Last year I had the absolute pleasure of joining the incredible Mighty Oak team as a motion designer, compositor, and VFX artist on Octopus! - a two-part Amazon Prime docuseries narrated by my ultimate idol Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The project was a dream come true and most definitely not your classic nature documentary. At its heart is Doris, a Giant Pacific Octopus brought to life through stop-motion animation and handmade artistry using yarn, lace, and papier mâché - woven seamlessly with live-action underwater cinematography, fascinating interviewees, and PLENTY of british wit.

Working alongside the dream team at Mighty Oak, Jigsaw, and Kaleida Studio, I got to help shape Doris’s deep-sea world  from plankton-rich visuals to shafts of underwater light. It’s the kind of project that reminds you why you fell in love with motion design in the first place: bold, original, and utterly unexpected craftsmanship.

THE BEST PART? Octopus! has just been honored with an Emmy Award for Outstanding Motion Design at the 77th Creative Arts Emmys. Seeing such a unique, handcrafted, and joyfully strange content recognized on this scale is simply ink-redible...
